Well remember this and you will definitely gain muscle mass. Weight training plus food plus rest equals muscle mass growth. This is very important because if one of them is missing you simply will not see any difference in your body and will most likely get frustrated and end up quitting thus not achieving any of the goals you set out to accomplish.

You should have a meal plan in place before starting to weight lift because then your meals are planned and you will not slip up and eat bad calories.
You should also have a weight lifting plan in motion. A daily regimen that you can do every time you go to the gym, a little tip is to go to the gym do your workout and then leave. Your muscles grow outside of the gym and the faster that your muscles work the faster they will grow. So go to the gym when it is most likely not crowded. If you are waiting for machines then your muscles have time to relax. If you really work your muscles and then go and get rest, you will see growth faster.
If you do not know how to work the machines or do not know the type of lifting you should do because you are a beginner, hire a personal trainer for a little while until you get the hang of it. After all it is better for your health to weight lift as well as do cardiovascular exercise and eat right to.
