The first piece of bodybuilding equipment you should buy is adjustable dumbbells. The reason this should be the first piece bought is because it allows you to do many different exercises. You also get the best results because the dumbbells force your body to use a lot of different muscle fibers to just stabilize the weight.
The second piece you should get is an adjustable bench with leg extension and leg curl attachment. This is a must have item for a long term home gym because it gives you the ability to do many different exercises such as: incline and regular bench press, leg extensions and leg curls, and many other different free weight exercises. If you also put the extra money out you can get the pulldown bar attachment which will enable you to do pretty much every exercise there is.
